Underground Elephant donates over 100 computers and accessories to a local non-profit homeless shelter.
San Diego, CA – April 2, 2012
Underground Elephant, the leader in performance-based lead generation, announced today that the company donated over one hundred pieces of technical equipment to the San Diego Rescue Mission. Proceeds from the donated items will directly support the organization’s philanthropic outreach programs.
“It’s a great feeling knowing that Underground Elephant’s contributions will become a much needed resource for the non-profit and will help them to better serve the San Diego community,” said Jason Kulpa, CEO of Underground Elephant.
At Underground Elephant, we understand that even the smallest steps towards going green can make an impact. This year, we are putting a new spin on Earth Day. In the spirit of conservation, we are turning off our printer during business hours to show how printing dependence can be mitigated by using alternative means. We are looking forward to the challenge and hope to both promote as well as strengthen similar conservation strategies at the office.
Most organizations are aware of the positive effects that going green can have on the environment, however developing a plan may seem like a daunting task. Our commitment to energy-saving strategies is reflected in our “Elephants Go Green” initiative, a plan designed to get employees involved in green practices at the workplace.
This initiative encourages Underground Elephant’s employees to:
- Turn off equipment when not in use and turn on power save mode when available
- Communicate via email
- Utilize company shared folders and digitally file documents
- Use paper that consists of recycled materials
- Print only when absolutely necessary
- Print double-sided when possible
- Carpool or walk to local events to reduce gas emissions
- Reuse and/or recycle old electronics, such as computers, monitors, and keyboards
How your organization can benefit from going green:
Adopting eco-friendly practices can help businesses and organizations increase efficiency while also decreasing their financial bottom line. These systems require far less resources than their competitors, thus cutting costs. Energy-saving upgrades can greatly reduce your company’s energy bill every month.
Your educational institution, organization, or small business can show your commitment to the environment by partnering with organizations such as Energy Star, part of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). This can increase your company’s marketability while also taking steps to help worldwide conservation efforts.
By taking the necessary steps to decrease our carbon footprints, we can help preserve the environment for future generations.

Coffee. That’s what comes to mind when I envision the definition of an intern. Every movie and television show I’ve seen depicts college interns as errand-running, coffee-cup-filling, bottom-rung-of-the-ladder, under-appreciated students. Since beginning my internship here at Underground Elephant, I haven’t even come close to a coffee machine.
Though no caffeine was involved on my first day here, my head was buzzing. Lead Generation? Affiliate Marketing? It took me a little while to fully understand what Underground Elephant really does. Through the past couple of weeks I’ve realized that UE is (in VERY simplified terms) the middleman between customers and online businesses. UE makes high-quality leads to help clients spread the word about their business.
As a social media intern, I help UE maintain online platforms like Facebook and Twitter, I’m always on the lookout for new media. Something that drew me to UE initially was the sense of community and playfulness that the company seems to exhibit and is apparent in its online presence. I can say with confidence that the atmosphere at the UE office is positive, fun and innovative.
Right now the office is decked out in Halloween spirit, and the buckets of candy and treats that adorn my desk tempt me every week! And just last Friday as I was updating a Facebook post, Keith’s dog was chasing a tennis ball around my chair.
I’m excited to be part of the UE team and I am confident that my work is contributing to the company. Not to mention, I’m comforted in knowing that the only time I will be in the presence of coffee will be by choice, in UE’s fully-stocked, granite-countered kitchen.
Underground Elephant CEO Jason Kulpa is taking his herd on a caravan to square up with motivational speaker and boxing champ Paul Vaden today October 22 at the Old School Boxing Gym in San Diego.
“With some of the new industry regulations the makeup of our organization has changed. Department shifts, new job titles, new verticals, new sources of stress for employees. It’s critical they be able to adapt to change and continue working their hardest.” Kulpa is notorious for thinking outside the box and a motivational speech/boxing training event is no different.
Paul Vaden is set to speak about perseverance; a skill he learned in his 23 year boxing career. The elephants will be running drills, sparring, and doing the notorious arm sprints. Read on to learn more about Vaden and “Answer the Bell.”
Paul Vaden and “Answer the Bell”
Vaden, a self proclaimed mama’s boy, started boxing at 8 years old here in San Diego, CA out of the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA. Paul joined the YMCA boxing team in 1976 on a two week trial per his father’s suggestion and in true Paul Vaden style he committed 100% enveloping himself in the art of boxing. Paul knew there was never going to be an alternative to boxing and his two week trial turned into a 23 year long career.
His fervor for boxing, and commitment to discipline brought multiple successes his way including the title of World Champion in 1995. Today, Paul “The Ultimate” Vaden still hold the highest winning average as an amateur boxer, as well as the only San Diegan to hold a world champion boxing title.
When you meet Paul Vaden it’s easy to see how his boxing success translated into life success. He is a dynamically positive individual, extremely disciplined, and truly engaging. His latest endeavor is his forthcoming book, “Answer the Bell.” Answer the Bell is not only a book option but a way of life.
At age 16 in boxing, you become a senior boxer and fight against men. Scared to find out what he was made of, Paul found himself, as he describes it, hiding behind his glove. Paul’s first “Answer the Bell” moment was pushing through the fear of the unknown to get up and fight.
“There are moments in your life when challenges beat you down, and you have a minute to make a decision, answering the bell, is getting up in the face of life’s challenges when that bell rings. Answer the Bell is never relenting. Once you relent you become like everyone else.” – Paul Vaden
